As you know, on January 12 after a quake of 7.3 on the Richter scale devastated causing some departments of Haiti - according to official figures - 300,000 dead, countless more wounded and over 1,500,000 people homeless. Eight months later, the indifference of the authorities - both domestic and foreign - are growing indignation and discontent throughout the country. In fact, since that Jan. 12, the prevalence inhumane conditions in refugee camps 1500 installed in the affected areas show clearly that the humanitarian crisis is far from being resolved. Also, anger rises and residents of these areas come to the streets to demand respect for their rights to decent housing, health, food, work and education. It should be noted that many of them were brutally expelled by the police force into more distant from the centers of power and decision, taking into account that several owners of those lands demand respect property rights. Given this situation, conflicts are multiplying, especially when the government of René Garcia Préval complies happily in the role of assisted and confirms that it will respect the right to private property.
